Evolvence India Fund (EIF) is the first independent hybrid private equity focused on investments in India. The fund, launched in 2005 and closed in July 2007, has a total corpus of USD 250 million. EIF is a hybrid fund with an investment strategy of investing in select private equity managers and actively co-investing alongside them. The fund has 80 investors from 20 countries, including large institutions, sovereigns, family offices and high net-worth individuals (HNIs). EIF has USD 310 million of assets under management, including USD 58 million of direct investments by its investors in some of its co-investments.

EIF has committed to 10 funds (through 8 managers) and made 8 co-investments. It has invested in a diverse set of funds, which range from all vintages between 2004 and 2008 and various strategies including early stage, growth capital, small buyouts and sector funds. The fund’s active co-investment strategy has also enabled it to generate superior performance for the fund by selecting high quality co-investments.

The fund is led by Mr. Ajit Kumar who has been investing in private equity in both developed and emerging markets since 1990 and brings with him over 20 years of experience. He is assisted by a qualified team of investment professionals with diverse financial and operational experience.
